Erwin Blumenfeld was definitely a photographer who was before his time. His fashion photography changed the views of those around him to see how fashion could be experimented with and yet still kept desirable. His obsession and love for women could only help progress his work as by adoring their beauty and femininity he was able to share this with his viewers. However, i must say my most favourite pieces from him was his surrealist photography. Of course, he continued to experiment in many ways but it was no longer a helping hand in promoting beauty. Instead it created darkness, pain and psychological disturbance. It was as if his photography was his therapy and an escape route which we can only become overwhelmed with as we see the truth of what was really behind Blumenfeld’s lens.
