Shaka portraits reveal to his viewers the struggle of individuality of social power by the movement of the face, it is their escape of their inner self. Twisting and turning in every way for it to be achieved. The variety of colour which is reaching out to the viewers represents this well as to me it reflects something which is far from blending within society. From a straight on view (2nd image) the portrait is at it’s strongest, as the face reaches out towards you the eyes and mouth become unfamiliar due to their overwhelming uniqueness taking over.
